Overview
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) course at the School of Medicine, Sydney is a 4 year postgraduate program, open to students from a wide range of undergraduate degrees.
The first two years of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) are based at the Darlinghurst site. The course is comprised of problem-based learning tutorials, clinical and communication skills sessions, clinical attachments and clinical debriefing tutorials, as well as lectures and opportunities for self-directed learning. Third and fourth year full-time clinical attachments take place in a variety of hospital and community settings. Students have the opportunity to train in clinical schools in New South Wales or Victoria, in both rural or metropolitan centres.

Graduate entry courses are Bachelor or Masters level courses that you can’t enter straight from school. You can only study them if you already have a degree. At Notre Dame Sydney School of Medicine, this degree can be in any field. Graduate entry medical degrees are shorter than undergraduate medical courses. The reason they’re shorter is that the university can assume that you’ve already developed the ability to learn effectively at university level and that you have an understanding of the basic sciences.
Entry Criteria
Applicants are ranked by combining the standardised scores calculated from a combination of the GPA, GAMSAT and Notre Dame Portfolio with the applicant’s interview score.
