History

Key Student Attributes & Outcomes

Describe an overview of and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history as a continuum from pre-contact to the present.
Identify, acknowledge and analyse one's own emotional reactions to this history, and offer opinions respectfully.
Explain the connection between history and present health outcomes, including the forms and impacts of racism.

The film 'Babakiueria' shows how Aboriginals are represented in society through taking a sarcastic look at racial stereotypes. Rare Indigenous Comedy.

Pat Laughren. 1999, 'The Fair Go: Winning the 1967 Referendum', Australian Broadcast Commission, Open Learning AUstralia, AUstralia.

The film 'The Fair Go' is the story of the ten year campaign to change the Australian constitution so that Indigenous people were counted in the census. Provides an insight into the recent history of Australia and it's effect on Indigenous peoples.
