Staff Bio

Dr Dashwood is a Specialist Emergency Physician with Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and Yuin man. Dr Dashwood joined Western Sydney University School of Medicine as a Lecturer of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.

Dr Dashwood started his career with a Bachelor of Science, Double Major in Biotechnology and Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of New South Wales. Ryan started his premedical career in science working as a Cytogeneticist. In 2005 he completed a Graduate Certificate of Health Science (Indigenous Community Health) and then in 2006 attended the University of Sydney Medical Program, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Ryan completed his Fellowship with ACEM in 2019 and now works in both metropolitan trauma centres as well as our metropolitan peripheral hospitals.

Dr Dashwood has a research interest in Geriatric Emergency Medicine (GEM) and Indigenous interaction within Emergency Departments and is an active mentor to Indigenous students and JMOs across Australia.
