First Peoples Pathways to Medicine

Course Information

This program is an intensive two-year degree that will be offered full-time at the Gold Coast or Nathan on-campus mode. The program is only offered as an accelerated mode and includes both winter and summer semesters. There will be no break between semesters for the duration of the program.

You will develop knowledge and skills in modern biosciences and clinical sciences, with an emphasis on their application to the development of medicine, biomedical research and healthcare services. Provided you achieve a grade point average of 5.0 for the program and a minimum grade of Pass in the designated course `Human Skills for Medicine’ this intensive program will prepare you for entry into Griffith’s medical degree.

Entry Level: School leaver provisional

School leaver provisional entry pathways are offered by universities that have graduate-entry medical courses. They guarantee school leavers a place in the graduate entry medical program on the condition that they first complete a bachelor level degree course at the university and meet specified conditions (such as maintaining a particular grade point average and finishing the degree in the normal minimum time period).

Additional Information

* Entry to this program is exceptionally competitive because there is only 30 places available at each of the two campuses. Entry cut off scores are normally around ATAR 99.65. For Queensland applicants this equates to a ‘High’ OP1 and therefore not everyone with an OP1 will get an offer.

* You need to have successfully completed the pre-requisite subjects of English and Maths B or the interstate equivalent. The study of Biology, Chemistry or Physics is highly desirable.

* A grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 for the program and a minimum grade of Pass in the designated course `Human Skills for Medicine’ in this intensive program will guarantee entry into the BMBS graduate program.

* Griffith University have their own resource First Peoples Pathways to Medicine with additional information.
